Lexi drew her sword; there was no chance of avoiding this fight. Samuel was convinced that only one of them could be left alive if this war was going to end. His sword was a heavy two handed behemoth. If she got hit with it, she would be in trouble. Holding her much lighter sword in one hand she plucked a tiny dagger from her belt and stood waiting. The two opponents locked eyes as they each mustered the strength they needed for this fight. Dashing forward, Lexi dove between her opponent’s wide legs, taking advantage of his overly stable stance. His giant blade barely missed her feet as she rolled over and drove her dagger into his calf. Crying out in pain he swung around, just barely missing her head as his sword arced across the ground. She jumped up and retreated, but another swing of Samuel’s sword caught her shoulder. Spinning with the blade she was able to minimize the damage, but that cut was not a shallow one.

She could feel the fatigue in her arm already. Clutching her hilt with both hands now she deflected and dodged her attacker’s strikes. He was slow, but still managed to leave little in the way of an opening. Lexi began circling him. The pain spread across his face as the dagger in his leg moved with the contractions of his muscle. If he were to continue using that leg he would have to pull that dagger out soon. So she started walking backwards, forcing him to follow. She was afraid to turn her back on him, and almost tripped far too many times. Stopping for just a moment she glanced behind her, where she saw a river cutting off any escape.

Turning her gaze back to Samuel she had to dive out of the way. Instead of using the pause to free the dagger as Lexi had hoped, he had lunged, expecting to gut his opponent. A massive rip in the side of her shirt was all he had accomplished. Lexi tried to take the offensive, but that giant sword wouldn’t let her get close. She took the defensive once again, this time trying to lure Samuel to close the gap between them. He smiled as he realized her plan. Laughing, he stopped attacking and opened his arms, resting the sword in the dirt. Confused, Lexi charged, there was no chance he could get that sword back up in time to stop her. Still, she was afraid of his sword and swung at that hand instead of going for the kill.

 A shimmer in the corner of her eye warned her of his actual plan and she leapt backwards. Her very own dagger went slicing through her side. She nearly collapsed in pain, but managed to stumble backwards. She watched the dagger fall to the dirt as Samuel brought his sword above his head. Unable to move quick enough, Lexi watched as the great sword struck down like a force of god. In the last second she brought up her sword to save herself. A giant chunk of blade was chipped out, but she was alive. Using all the wrist strength she had, she twirled the blade around and caught her enemy’s stomach. Slicing across his belly she drew back the sword and drove it into his intestines. A moan of pure pain dribbled out of Samuel’s lips as his sword fell to the ground. His body fell forward, onto Lexi’s sword. She couldn’t hold his weight and was forced to drop her sword as she dodged his falling body. Rolling out of the way reminded her of her own wounds and cried out in pain, clutching her side. She closed her eyes for a minute and tried to plan her next move.
