A Dark Universe
Darkness was all that existed. It had consumed everything else before they could develop into something real. The black was empty of all things, good or bad. It was bliss and misery and neither of those at the same time. Nothing could cause harm, yet nothing could deliver happiness. A great numbness radiated across the lightless universe. There was no air, no color, and no sound. All of those things had been devoured by an emotionless void. The darkness ruled supreme, for it was all that existed.
Or was it?
In a single instant an oppressed and hidden galaxy fought back. It struck out with the light a thousand stars. The cries of a million angry life forms shook the void. A great wind blew open a shining hole in that empty universe. The first attack brought with it a surge of solar systems, ready to grow into their own galaxies. They split up across the plane of blackness and pushed forth. Traveling far and wide, the stars found friends who were tearing more holes into the black beast. Dispersed in all directions, the ever-growing galaxies continued to free the cosmos of its oppressor.
